Dulah In Red Velvet (full color)
Posted on February 18, 2009 - Filed Under Family history, Uncategorized
Mrs. Annalee Wood, the niece of artist Joseph Pfister sent me a color photo of the painting Dulah in Red Velvet. Dulah is cousin Dulah Pulskamp of Celina, OH, who was very close to the artist all her life.

a striking portrait. nice.
Yay I love it! I’m so glad to see it in color!
I am the great grandson of Henry Pulskamp (Rosemary’s grandson). We have inherited a Pulskamp family picture that is exactly like what is on your site (History), plus another that shows him with all of his brothers father and mother. We also have a charcoal drawing of Dulah signed by Joseph Pfister that looks like Dulah is much younger. We also have quite a few older photographs of the Celina Pulskamps.
If you are interested in seeing any of these please let me know.
From a 1978 History of Mercer County Ohio:
Mrs. Donals M. Wood has a collection of Joseph Pfister’s works in her Cincinnati home.
Dulah in Red Velvet; Dulah Pulskamp
Many other paintings are also listed.
I have a PDF of the article if anyone is interested.
Hello Kevin,
I’m still living and living in Celina, Ohio on Ash St. You used to carry the Dayton Daily News when you were in school. I served as your counselor.
I am interested in the painting by Joseph Pfister that was hung in the Riley House which serves as the museum in Celina. When hung, it was believed to be of Dulah in Red Velvet, but since then we feel sure it is of someone else. Who? We do not know. If you could help us identify her, it would be appreciated.
I am helping access items at the museum. It has been closed for many years. A committee is determined to have it open once more. A new director has been hired.
I hope to hear from you. Thanks very much,
Jan Temple
